Former MLA Sharada Shetty has withdrawn her nomination and announced her political retirement
Former MLA Sharada Mohan Shetty, who rebelled from the Congress and contested as an independent, has withdrawn her nomination paper and announced her retirement from politics.
The high command had given the Congress ticket for the Kumata-Honnavar constituency to Nivedit Alva, son of former Governor Margaret Alva. Congress workers openly expressed their displeasure for giving ticket to Nivedit Alva who did not apply as a ticket aspirant from Kumta constituency.
Former MLA Sharada Mohan Shetty filed nomination papers as a non-party candidate to contest as a rebel as the Congress ticket for the Kumta-Honnavar Assembly Constituency was lost.
This had become a headache for Congress candidate Nivedit Alva. Sharada Shetty was appointed by K.P.C.C. President D.K.Sivakumar made a phone call and persuaded them to withdraw their nomination papers. M.L.C. Or it was said that he had promised to give the post of chairman of the corporation board.
But besides withdrawing nomination papers, Sarada Shetty said today that she wants to retire from politics.
My family and I have worked for the party for many years. However, the non-issue of party tickets has hurt. Also, there is no premise to support anyone after political retirement. My supporters said they are free to support anyone.
